Obesity management
'Obesity puts a strain on the heart and can increase the chance of developing high blood pressure and diabetes'
The condition of being significantly overweight is called obesity and in Ayurveda is called medoroga. And it is usually applied to a condition of 30 percent or more over ideal body weight. Obesity puts a strain on the heart and can increase the chance of developing high blood pressure and diabetes. Obesity is caused by the impairment of the agni (Medadhatwagni) responsible for the break-up of the molecules of fat. Channels carrying meda (fat) are affected by lack of exercise, day sleep, and excessive intake of fatty food and of alcoholic drinks. Defect in carrying channels deranges the material carried by it. Thus fat also deranges and starts accumulating in body excessively. This obstructs the nutrient channels of the remaining tissues depriving them of nutrition. So only fat accumulates in the body making the persons incapable of all other activities. Ayurveda's approach to address obesity involves three easy steps; Reduce calories and Fat intake. Exercise Regularly. Use herbs to reduce appetite, burn fat and eliminate extra water. Ayurveda says that if you are serious about losing weight, then you must be following all the three steps. Ayurveda helps you to make use of the above choices effectively.
