Herbalage Anti-Aging Concept {HAAC}
Herbalage Anti-Aging Concept {HAAC}is based on the principles of Rasayanatantra {rejuvenation}derived from the ancient Indian medical system Ayurveda, "the science of life" (approx. 1500 BC old) that includes geriatrics as 1 of 8 medical divisions. HAAC treats aging and all sorts of age-related disorders by neutralizing the effect of Ama/Toxins or Free Radicals in our body.
Ama/Toxins or Free Radicals - definitions
Ama: the Deadly Free Radicals – the Ayurvedic approach: "Sarve roga api mandagnow" - The root cause of all disease is mandagni {Manda-Agni}(Weak digestive fire/enzymes). The Great Ayurvedic Scholar Vagabhatta has concluded the theory after considering the cause for several diseases. One of the important concepts of Ayurveda is "Ama" produced at Amashaya (intestine) hence, called Ama + shaya. Agni (enzymes), the power of digestion also begins at Amashaya (intestine) on the Ahara (food) we consume. Now we have to correlate the knowledge of Agni to the Ama production in Amashaya, to understand the healthy and non-healthy state of the human body.
Ama is derived from 2 words; Aa means near to and Ma means poison. Hence the word Ama denotes a group of substance which is "near to poison" or "act like a poison". Ama in Ayurveda means raw, undigested, immature, incomplete oxidized/combusted food particles. If the Ama is present for a long time in the body and not flushed-out from the system, forms Amavisha, which is a more reactive and dangerous type of Ama. When Amavisha starts to spread throughout the body, it can mix with the dhatus (body tissues) and the malas (waste products) and results in all sorts of problems related to physiology. Once Amavisha mixes with the fat tissue, it damages the channels of the body and leads to problems such as high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure etc.
Ama or free radicals - modern approach: Free radicals produced in our body are unpaired unstable molecules, lacking the appropriate electrons necessary to be stable. So, to gain stability they are always on the lookout to swipe electrons from other molecules such as DNA, protein and fat. Free radicals (AMAs) are highly reactive molecules and their activities damage the physiological structures of DNA, lipids and proteins. One free radical can initiate tens of thousands of chain reactions just like atomic explosions that cause tremendous harm by destroying cell membranes, enzymes, disrupt crucial processes in the body, reprogram DNA and form mutant cells and more. Continuous destruction over a period of time cause nearly all situation of non-ideal health and manifest as diseases of Cardiovascular, Kidney, Liver, Pancreas, joint, sexual problems etc.
This is exactly what our fore fathers in Ayurveda have outlined the Concept of Ama formation, which when unchecked leads to all types of above mentioned ill-health conditions.
