Medicinal plants have a high market potential as the world demand for the herbal products is growing at the rate of 7% per annum. The trade in herbal medicine is estimated at several billion dollars. The size of the world herbal market has grown substantially in the past 10 years, thanks to growing awareness of Ayurveda and the possible side effects of conventional medicines.
Among this total herbal scenario, Ayurveda has its total turnover of approximately INR 2300 Cr that includes major OTC products, Ayurvedic ethical formulations and Ayurvedic classical formulations.
Ayurveda being the natural system of medicine of India has been practiced for more than 5000 years. It literally means the "the Science of life". The healing tradition of Ayurveda has been helping people take control of their own health and well being for thousands of years. Ayurveda provides an integrated approach to the prevention and treatment of illness through lifestyle interventions and a wide range of natural therapies.
